What Options Do I Have to Replace My Missing Teeth?
Our San Antonio dentists see patients from all walks of life. We understand that your long-term smile goals or short-term needs may be different than the person right next to you...especially when it comes to replacing your missing teeth.
You deserve to know what options are available to choose from so that you can find the one that best fits your personality, budget, and aesthetic concerns. Here are some tooth replacement treatments that you might want to consider:
Modern dental implants are the gold standard of tooth replacement. They can last for decades. Plus, they're designed to mimic the function of a natural tooth.
Whether full or partial, dentures are a removable prosthetic that affordably replaces all your missing teeth at one time.
For one or two missing teeth, a bridge can suspend an artificial crown (porcelain tooth) within the open gap, and anchor itself over your healthy teeth on each side. Bridges an also be supported by dental implants.
Flippers are temporary, affordable prosthetics that can be worn for a short period of time. Maybe you're planning to save up for dental implants and need to wait a few months. Or perhaps your child knocked out a tooth and the adult one is still a bit away from coming in.
Not Replacing The Tooth at All
Although this isn't usually the preferred option, it still is one. Just be sure to note that leaving the open space in your mouth can lead to extra bone loss and drifting of your other teeth.
