Whether you have dental anxiety or need oral surgery, sedation dentistry can make any dental treatment easy to endure. At Nautical Dental, we offer sedation dentistry options to make it relaxing and comfortable to receive your dental care. From light sedation with nitrous oxide to complete IV sedation, we have options available to make your dental experience pain and stress-free.
When someone has severe dental anxiety or an invasive procedure is needed for dental health, IV sedation can be the best option. This type of sedation is administered intravenously, putting the patient in a sleep-like state during their procedure. Patients are not conscious and will not remember their dental treatment. It will be important to discuss your health history with our doctor before we can determine whether this is a good option for your procedure.
Oral Conscious Sedation
For those with moderate to high levels of dental anxiety or for longer procedures, oral conscious sedation may be recommended. This sedation method uses an oral medication to put you into a relaxed state before your dental treatment. A medication is prescribed by one of our dentists that is ingested before your appointment. While you will be conscious during your treatment, you will be in a very relaxed state and will need someone to bring you to and from our office.
Those with mild or moderate stress during dental treatments can benefit from nitrous oxide sedation. Also referred to as laughing gas, this sedative is inhaled for a euphoric feeling during your treatment. You will feel relaxed, yet aware and conscious. After your treatment, a few deep breaths of fresh air will dissipate the effects so you will have a clear head immediately after your procedure.
At Nautical Dental, we always strive to make our patients as comfortable and relaxed as possible when they come to us for dental treatments. With sedation dentistry, even those with severe dental anxiety can enjoy the benefits of a healthy, beautiful smile. Contact our office today to schedule an appointment.
